Bear king brewing // BEER WITH A STORY
A good brewery needs more than a logo. It needs a world.
For Bear King Brewing Co., we built a brand full of myth, mischief and enough personality to stretch across beer names, packaging, tap handles, vehicle graphics and tiny stories on the side of a can.
The result was a flexible identity system that gave each beer its own character while still making everything feel like it came from the same slightly strange kingdom.
Every beer has a story
The brand story had to work everywhere a brewery shows up, from tap handles and cans to merch, events and a van that could turn any parking lot into a little piece of the kingdom.
The names and stories gave each release its own personality, helping the lineup feel collectible, character-driven and unmistakably Bear King.
The Story of Bull Dust
Years ago, an old soothsayer cursed the town of Bull, TX for their lies. Soon a stampede of cattle with a dust storm in tow wiped the town off the map. Today, when met with an obvious lie, your gut response is the name of that little town.
The Story of Monkey Bridge
Few dare cross the Monkey Bridge. Maybe it’s because a circus train full of mischievous monkeys overturned there. Or maybe it’s because they still live in the forest nearby, playing tricks on passersby.
The Story of Whisper Man
That idea that “just came to you,” that moment of genius you just happened upon…are you sure it was yours? No one knows where the Whisper Man will show up next. No one knows when. And no one knows that he is a she. Brilliant, but unknown, she lived her entire life in the shadow of giants. Some thought she was a muse to the greatest minds of her time, but the truth is darker. She wasn’t in the presence of greatness, they were. In a time when equality was just a mathematical principle, she was the brightest light no one ever saw. And because they could get away with it, they stole her ideas. Every single one of them. When she passed, unfulfilled and unrecognized, her regret bound her here. And here she remains, sharing her genius with anyone who will listen, hoping someone will hear and finally give her the recognition she deserves. But time offers little kindness, and hers ran out long ago. So before you go claiming that “Eureka” moment as your own, remember to give credit where credit’s due. If not, the Whisper Man may just have to come back and find you.
The Story of The Wandering Blonde
It may be true that beggars can’t be choosers, but nobody told this blonde. On a warm summer day, she awoke in the middle of a magical forest, with no memory of who she was or how she got there. The only thing she was sure of was her thirst. Hearing a waterfall splashing nearby, she rushed to its rapids. She cupped her hands and drank heartily, then spat it all back out. It was too bubbly. She was so thirsty, but she just couldn’t bring herself to drink it. So she kept searching. Following the stream, she happened upon an enchanted lake. Relieved, she knelt next to the placid waters and brought a handful to her mouth. Still not right. It was too warm. Again she kept searching. She wandered the forest for days, seasons, years, searching for something to quench her driving thirst. Legend has it she’s still looking. So if you come across a fair-haired beauty wandering in the woods, have a heart and offer her a drink. Just don’t be offended if she spits it out. After all, she can be a little particular.
